Hello,
I created these sets of SFZ soundfonts both to learn the ropes, have cool sounds to play on my digital piano, and, last but not least, amuse myself in the process.
They can be downloaded at: https://sourceforge.net/projects/inperfect-pitch/files/
The samples come from:
"The Experience - NY SS Model B Version: [1.0]"
"The Experience - Fazioli F308"
"The Experience - Yamaha S6 Version: [1.3]"
All by Dore Mark at: https://www.pianobook.co.uk/profile/dore_m
The credit for the awesome sound quality goes to Dore Mark. If you want to know the details of each recording, check out his website and YouTube channel.
The original Kontakt/SFZ files are available at https://www.pianobook.co.uk
The instruments are:
Fazioli 308 concert grand piano.
New York Steinway & Son Model B semi-concert grand piano.
Yamaha S6 semi-concert grand piano.
Recording technical information:
12 microphones.
7 Velocity Layers.
I created 3 sets of SFZ fonts for each piano according to the following procedure:
SFZ wav was created by simply selecting the best (in my opinion) preset for each piano in the original wav/48Kh format.
SFZ flac-48 was created by converting the wav samples to flac-48Kh.
SFZ flac-41 was created by converting the flac-48Kh samples to flac-41Kh.
The comparative data are as follows (PB stands for the original Piano Book uncompressed file)
Code: Select all
PIANO MODEL VERSION SAMPLES FORMAT SIZE TAR.GZ
Fazioli F-308 PB 1682 wav-48 4.7 GB 3.6 GB
Fazioli F-308 wav 692 wav-48 1.9 GB 1.5 GB
Fazioli F-308 flac-48 692 flac-48 614 mb 607.8 mb
Fazioli F-308 flac-41 692 flac-41 169 mb 127.5 mb
Steinway B PB 2697 wav-48 6.4 GB 4.7 GB
Steinway B wav 408 wav-48 1.1 GB 818.0 mb
Steinway B flac-48 408 flac-48 294 mb 290.0 mb
Steinway B flac-41 408 flac-41 88 mb 63.3 mb
Yamaha S6 PB 2579 wav-48 6.7 GB 5.2 GB
Yamaha S6 wav 404 wav-48 1.1 GB 902.2 mb
Yamaha S6 flac-48 404 flac-48 352 mb 348.8 mb
Yamaha S6 flac-41 404 flac-41 100 mb 76.6 mb
Although the wav versions have measurable performance differences, and would be the best choice if you require the upmost standards of quality, the lightweight flac-41 versions provide a similar sonic performance for all practical purposes.
The flac-48 versions fall somewhere in between. Your choice.
The SFZ have been tested on Linuxsampler and Liquidsfz. I commented out a few opcodes that wouldn't be supported by Liquidsfz, which is the software I use.
If you use Musescore or software that might support more opcodes, you might want to go through the SFZ files and activate them.
Enjoy!
