AV Linux MX-21.3 and Ardour 7.3?

A fresh install, Ardour 7 does fine but Ardour 7.3 won't start. Freezes into plugin scan. Will start at "safe mode" but no plugins available, neither after plugin scan.

Hi,

Hmmm not exactly following which AV Linux version you're using sounds like it might be fairly old, maybe the first release on MX which would be based on MX-19 which would now be Debian oldstable (Buster)..?

Anyway... You can try this package:
http://bandshed.net/packages/AV_LINUX_M ... _amd64.deb

In my experience Ardour 7.3 had numerous problems especially with VST3 Plugins so this was an updated nightly 'courtesy version' I put up with some Plugin fixes. Let me know if that works.

This may be relevant as well from the Ardour 7.3 release announcement:

Also new for our official builds of 7.3: newer versions of several of the software libraries that Ardour depends on. We expect this to help with some plugin issues. If you build Ardour yourself or get it from a Linux distribution, this won't affect you, but for everyone else, it should be a small but meaningful improvement.

If you are using an older version of AV Linux based on MX-19/Debian Buster then it may be these changes are playing a part in things not working..

You're going to need to directly contact the ardour devs to get that resolved. That error message definitely indicates that there's a problem in the source code, and gmaq who is a distro packager is not going to be able to resolve that. Neither are any of the devs of other projects who frequent this forum. Ardour devs very infrequently post here, so you need to seek out help from the official ardour forums which I believe are here:

Check that out. May be related to the same problem and is easily solvable:

Hi,

It appears from that MB Forum thread there is an issue with the Auburn Sounds Demo Plugin Package on AV Linux 21.3, and I can confirm there was a folder with bad permissions for the 'Lens' vst3 Plugin demo. I have no idea why it passed the scans on the versions of Ardour and Mixbus8 on the AVL 21.3 ISO and not with the updated Ardour and MB versions but in any case I put up a fixed Package for the Auburn Sounds demos here:
