Does anyone have the Apogee Duet working in Linux?

By working, I mean ability to control its features (i.e. 48V Phantom, the one knob's functionality, faders). I know FFADO is pretty great for Echo products. Does it function with the old firewire Apogee from 2007?

To answer my own question... yes it does work in Jack. I had to blacklist the default Ubuntu loading of firewire to allow Jack to run it.
sudo nano /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
and add the line:
blacklist snd_oxfw
to that file, save, and exit.
Then I ran:
sudo update-initramfs -u
Then I restarted and it worked.
The big knob can select most functions (gain for the first mic, headphone level, hold to mute or unmute the main sound. There is no live monitoring and there, to my knowledge, is no way to turn on 48V Phantom power. There's also no way (stock Xubuntu Linux 22.04) to switch the input from mic to line/guitar etc.
There are better options out there for Linux.

One better option (still no live monitoring) is an M-Audio FireStudio FW 610. It also must have its chipset (dice) blacklisted. Same instructions as for the duet but add this line instead.
blacklist snd_dice
Perhaps the best option for firewire is Echo since they were helpful in supplying info to the FFADO devs. RME was also, MOTU was not but I think there was support via reverse engineering.
For me it will be Echo from here on out. They're great interfaces with good converters, lots of I/O available and work well with FFADO mixer. What's not to love.

tried this (hinawa) and it doesn't seem to find the device unfortunately. The device is running just fine in jack, but it would be nice to control phantom power and inputs etc.
I'll probably just stick to Echo and FFADO unless I can find a good way to get the Duet working as it should.

yes it works very stable.
yes, problem is switching mic power on.
Also switching the Input to guitar or instrument impedance is not possible out of the box.
You have to install libhinawa - its is available for Ubuntu (SIGH) and as far as I know not for Arch Linux - ARGH!
YOu can download the deb packge, rip it off and copy the files, with a little luck it will run...well...I dont know if it runs better under Ubuntu, under Arch it seems to be slow and sometimes I have to issue a command 10 times til it is processed as it should...
There is Alien, but I do not know enough of Arch to know if this is usefull.
