Hey since this has been heating up in the music media, I wanted to see y'all take on it.
Me personally would hate to see an act using recording material as part of the the show. I grew up in an era where musicians were musicians and they'd improvise and not play the songs as recorded.
Imagine going to see Eddie Van Halen and have him sound like the record! Led Zep playing songs the way they recorded them. The Stones etc.
I remember seeing Prince live and he said on stage, ain't no recorded BS happening here. He said if you wanna hear me as on CD, stay home and listen to the damn CD!
Yes, intro music or things like for example, Vincent Price voice used on Iron Maiden's Number of The Beast.. Yes, that's recorded but then the band played live.
I'd hate to have the pressure of having a damn computer conduct the show.. Where is the intimacy with the audience? David Lee Roth in a drunken state chatting with the crowd for instance. He'd have a click track in his monitor telling him ok, times up, next song!
Music played live should be enjoyed by both the band and the crowd. A lively crowd gets you going. I don't wanna free that restrictions of a click in my in ear monitor.. Let the drummer be that. After all, ain't that the job of a drummer?
What ya'll think?
THIS IS JUST FOR DISCUSSION SAKE, NOT WHO IS RIGHT OR WRONG!
Just wanted to see where y'all are on this!
