av linux 21.3 wont boot on lenovo p500

Good evening
Im reasonably competent with linux and have been using ardour for many years.
Recently I switched to mx avl. It always worked well for me and I hardly had any problems using it on my laptop.
I needed more power so i bought a 2017 lenovo p500 tower. Win 10 was pre installed, but secure boot is disabled.
The computer works well.
Ive been trying to run AVL 21.3 on it, from a memory stick. The stick runs fine on my laptop.
However on the p500 it goes up till waiting for /dev to be fully populated, then the screen goes blank and nothing happens.
I tried with an older AVL on a usb hard disk and the same thing happens on the p500.
I tried different options on the advanced boot menu, including toram, but they all stop at the same place.
I wondered if it was anything to do with the raid disk system?
Would anyone have any ideas how to go forward?

I was wondering, could it be the uefi bios problem?

Ive just tried with a live debian 11 on usb and got the same problem

I got it working and Im on it now
nouveau.modeset=0 got me in and then i installed the nvidia drivers from MX toolkit. Lovely
