I'm concerned about glen's increasing obsession with canadian 'adult easy-listening' radio fodder. I think we should arrange an intervention before his band starts covering songs by Ann Murray and Bryan Addams.

I have to point out that comparing Gordon Lightfoot to Bryan Adams is like comparing Leonard Cohen to Nickleback :)

Great sound and feel on the covers! I think your band could also enjoy covering some Lord Huron songs, and Imogen Heap songs.
Some are so depressing, that they've helped me rise out of some low spots, by feeling sad for them...

Others have been like cardio-nitro-glycerin. Many heartfelt and epic lyrics and stories in their collections.
Cheers

I couldn't ID anything from those three...only learned about Gordon Lightfoot from a girlfriend in 1970 or so.
Once I got some gear, I had too little time to follow modern bands. Remaining woefully ignorant, with even less time
as all this virtual gear becomes more affordable.

I suppose an AI bot could compose a song about a ship sinking.
But I doubt it would hold an audience...and any beat it would
spit out would be robotic and lifeless, unless programmed to be less than accurate.
Most drummers don't charge extra for being inaccurate

Thanks for the detailed analysis! Yeah I suspected strings were acoustic, which indeed I would probably not enjoy, but it does look like a jack of many trades.

This made me remember another great song from a Canadian about a shrip wreck:

I actually met Heather when she was in Germany for a few pub concerts we organized for her when that album came out.

And then there's of course Stand Roger's "The Flowers of Bermuda" (which Heather also covered once).
