Just felt like sharing something

Post by Impostor »

The last couple of months I haven't been too productive, just screwing around a bit, but I'd like to share a little something anyway: my first Renoise pattern, looped a couple of times.

I feel a bit like a one-trick pony now, since it sounds almost exactly like everything else I make with trackers.* Oh well, it may or may not eventually be expanded into a proper track, but probably not. I have to get used to Renoise's pattern-scrolling first :(

Drums: The Black Pearl, a bassdrum sample, and a snaredrum sample
Bass: Dexed
Pad: OB-Xd
Tubular Bells: Pianoteq
Whistle: TripleCheese

*Make a nonsensical drumbeat, treat it with a simple pad, and it sounds half decent. Lesson: I should make the beat sound good before adding any pads. tbc..

Hi @impostor , nice one. More good incidental music. I like the jazzy touch and I would like to hear what you come up with next.

@psyocean and @jeanette_c:

You're too kind! Regarding inspiration, well, sometimes I make 5 tracks in less than as many months (last autumn), and sometimes six months or more pass without me making (or finishing) a single one.

Bristol synths: I've used the dx7 for the track Moody Melody a couple years ago, but as standalones they're a bit of a hassle to use i.m.o. Not to mention the fact that I found it really hard to get (a good) sound out of them. With synths I totally depend on good presets.

I am the same way, I will sometimes go on a creative binge and create a bunch of stuff quickly but then go months or even years without making anything...I am trying to turn it into a habit lately by dedicating myself to at least 20 minutes of daily musical activity, any type of musical activity whether it's practice or writing or even playing around with plugins.

Cool track!

Yeah, keep that jazzy feeling and expand this song! I would love to hear more of this!
