I won a Korg opsix, so I wanted to test if it's possible to load DX7 banks from Hexter and Dexed. The opsix is capable of a lot more than the old DX7, eg saw waveforms instead of sine only, but I was curious.
amidi is a tool that can transfer sysex files.
USB MIDI wasn't stable with the opsix. I don't know if it was the opsix, Linux, the cable or my powered USB hub. The opsix hung after a few notes and could only be set alive again by powercycling. Since I have audio interfaces with MIDI ports I used them. Worked fine with my master keyboard and Qtractor but not with amidi. It complained that the device was busy.
So with qjackctl I disconnected everything that was connected to the MIDI port et voilà it worked.
Since even Hexter and Dexed sound a bit differently I didn't do extensive tests how the opsix sounds. But at the first glance the opsix worked ok.
