Hey @stanlea thanks for sharing that on this forum!

This is Oskar from Sinuslabs and I am the creator and developer of REACH. I am here to answer any questions!
I just wanted to share that Sinuslabs as a company is commited to always deploy VST Plugins for Linux distributions too, we offer a Distro / Desktop Agnostic Installer (.sh). Furthermore I am happy to announce that we are fully open source as well!

Please note that we are currently running a sale for our new version of REACH that will last until 31.01.2023, in this period you will get the Plugin for 50% OFF 26$; 24€. After that it will return to its default price of 49$ (46€).

You can learn more about the Plugin here: https://sinuslabs.io/product/reach/

Tried this out, it's pretty nice on first impressions. Working no problem with ubuntu 22.04. Something not apparent on the site, there is a native Linux version and it the plugin is FOSS.

You can download an installer script (reach installer.sh)from:

https://github.com/Sinuslabs/Reach/releases/tag/v1.41

It needs to be activated to work fully but it works fine as a demo, just inserting a dip in sound at a time interval.

(Edit: I didn't refresh the page so didn't see the dev reply before I posted  )

@Largos thanks! Based on your feedback I've added a Dropdown that selects the correct OS version automatically - in my case it defaults to Linux :)

unless you spoof your useragent :))

Thanks for supporting linux! There are some really interesting effects in here, I love the really long distorted reverbs.

The install script mentions installing samples when asked but I wasn't asked anything when I opened the plugin.

@sysrqer thats a good catch, I am not using Samples and this line was copied by another Instrument that I've been working on. There are no samples includes in this tool and this solely a FX Plugin. I will remove that from the install script! Thanks alot for using Reach.

I wanted to try the plugin, but Ardour gives me the error message "`GLIBCXX_3.4.30' not found". I am using Ubuntu 20.4 and Ardour 6.9. Is there anything I can do to solve the problem? @Sinuslabs

@artix_linux_user hey I am using a makeself compressed script.

You can follow this thread to unpack it. Basically its a gzip-compressed tar archive that only contains the Reacht.vst3 and the installer script.
https://unix.stackexchange.com/question ... running-it

If you only want to list the whats inside the package you can use

Code: Select all

sh reach-installer.sh --list

@artix_linux_user I am currently working on a new installer its basically a tar.gz file that contains the binary and the installer script. That way it is more transparent on whats being done.

I will also provide a selection if you want to install it on the default path

  • .vst3
    or
  • custom path

Same on Ubuntu 21.04 here.

I was curious about the plugin and I tested it by using WINE with the Windows version. A bit silly, but at least I got to hear what it sounds like.

Hey ya all, I am happy to announce that I've just released a new version of REACH for Linux. This feature a binary which is compatible with more Linux Distros and also features a updated install script.

Simply unpack the tar.gz and install using the reach-installer.sh script.

For me, nothing has changed with the new version. I can't test the plugin because of a wrong GLIBC version.

If you're using Ubuntu 20.04 then the reason will most likely be because it requires a version of GLIBC newer than you have.

Could you let me know what GLIBC version you are using? I've build and tested with GLIBC version 3.4.28 on Ubuntu 20.04 this is the default library.

After doing some internet research, I came across this post: https://askubuntu.com/questions/575505/ ... this-error

The toolchain test package helped, no dist-upgrade was needed.

The plugin works fine now. I especially like the distortion on long, dark reverb tails - thanks for that.
