Speed Sleigh | Christmas Release

Post by JosSamLoh »

This is a drum and bass song I made the day before christmas, wanted to focus on my mastering and mixing a bit more, to ensure each sound has it's own distinct place in the soundscape, I am very proud of the result ^^

Sounds very good to me, except for the panning of lower frequency percussion to the right speaker, which isn't really comfortable to listen to on headphones; should be more centralized, imo. Which instruments and daw did you use?

Every track except for the drum loop uses the synth Hive 2, using an 808 preset, a rise, a drum loop preset, and two? pads. I use Ardour as my daw :).

Thanks! With the percussion, I tried to balance it with the amen break being panned slightly to the left, and with my current earphones and speakers, it was a comfortable listen. Maybe I have to invest into better headphones... x).

Well, it's entirely subjective of course. I doubt the quality of the headphones has anything to do with it. As long as it works for you!

By the way, why use preset drum loops? It's much more fun creating your own!
