Hello all! I'm a producer from the UK, and I love Linux.

Hiya, I'm JosSamLoh, I'm a 19 year old producer from the UK who's also very passionate about linux and free software
, surprised I hadn't thought about joining here sooner. As of writing this I have been properly producing for 2.5 months now. I am looking forward to sharing my music and getting criticism on things I may need to improve on. Specifically, still learning A LOT of the theory, also planning to become a multi-instrumentalist in the future! That's gonna take a very long time. All feedback is appreciated
One question as well, I would like to share all my music created using linux here, would I post it all in one post with each song linked, or each in their own individual post by album? What about music not made using linux?

Merry Christmas youngster!
What DAW, hardware and/or VST's do you use to make your music?

Merry Christmas! I use Ardour, and I mainly use Hive 2 for the most part, I like to use the calf plugins for a lot of my EQ and effects, and guitarix for anything guitar
. Only hardware I've really got atm is a Focusrite Solo as my interface, which has worked great, and this old Bontempi keyboard xP, which doesn't plug into my pc, so I can only use it for practice. Oh and I'm also running Fedora Silverblue as my OS.

Welcome! I just googled Silverblue, and it seems the entire root filesystem is mounted as read-only. Isn't it too much of a hassle then to persistently change any setting or file system-wide?

Silverblue offers tools built around this system setup, for any system-wide settings. For example, I can edit kernel parameters using the rpm-ostree kargs command, which is the only thing I've really had to mess with so far, as I'm using a nvidia gpu. I've found it to be fairly easy to use and less hassle actually compared to the traditional OS setup. Let alone it being more secure. System updates work like git as well.

You can post links in the "original recordings" section. If you finished a track, post a link to the track, and if you finished an album, post a link to the album, is how I'd do it.

Well, one can't hear the difference anyway, right?

Hive 2 is a wavetable synth by U-he that has a Linux native version. Wow, nice synth. The Calf plugins are really great and have a beautiful GUI (graphical user interface). [sort of off topic] However, some modern DAW's nowadays cannot show Claf's GUI's properly anymore (they use an old toolkit, GTk2). Dunno how that's in Ardour (your DAW of choice). But lucily there's a trick to show Calf GUI's like they're supposed to be (from my personal "tips n hints" files):
You can let the Calf (LV2) plugins show up in a DAW as Jack-Midi devices. That is, not as Alsa-Midi. This may be handy for Reaper because that DAW does not show Calf GUI's properly (something w/ GTK2 and X11...).
Command:
A window will pop up. It's like a rack in which you can add Calf stuff. They will show up in Qjackctl as audio devices and a Jack-Midi IN (not Alsa-Midi) devices.

I have no issue with calf plugins in Ardour after installing lv2-calf-plugins-gui from the fedora repositories.
