Hi @folderol , you certainly have all bases covered in this album. I love the variety amongst the tracks. It will come as no surprise that a few are quite too happy for me.. Though I did love the hornpipe as well as the piper. The piper sounds almost too modern for the style portrayed with such certainty.
I did enjoy Henry's ghost, again. Next to that Rain was probably my favourite.
As ever you bring a lovely palette of sounds to bare. Each song ends up being a journey of sound, with surprises awaiting at every corner.
Thanks for sharing!
This is a very sweet and positive album. Rain is definitely my favourite.
You have an instantly recognizable "folderol" palette of sounds, and I think this is a good thing. But maybe a track or two where you diverted from these nice melodies/harmonies and sounds would have been interesting?
While listening I several times thought of old children's TV shows from the 70s/80s made in eastern Europe. Fond memories.
You've certainly been busy. Three albums within a year? Good to see you don't lack inspiration! I can't really comment on the music since I prefer ambient music much darker than what you make, but you are definitely good at what you're doing.
Thanks a lot for such an enthusiastic response folks. Although most of the tracks are very recent, a few had been languishing half-finished in my 'bits box' for years. One that is extra special to me is "Solo". I'd just completed it when someone very close to me passed away. It was played during the eulogy, and then put away. That was ten years ago and I'm now comfortable with it being out in the wild.

I'd agree that the sounds a very recognizable across the songs. I think I like "Hornpipe" the best on this album.
Well, I do 'break out' very occasionally. "Submundo I posted a link to here a couple of years ago, and just last month I posted "The Dark".
Interestingly there is one track I never posted anywhere except here: https://sosforumalbum.bandcamp.com/track/the-machine
Just finished listening to it while I was working, a beautiful and relaxing album!
I also liked Rain a lot, and Eden's Sorrow too, probably because it starts very similar to Rainmaker by Kansas (eerily similar chord progression, and also a very similar Rhodes effect!). Considering the sweet spot that song has in my heart, it extended to Eden's Sorrow too
I'm delighted that Rain is being picked out as a favourite - it's one of mine too, and a track I'm likely to play if I'm feeling down in the dumps.
The Album Image is a picture of a beautiful bluebell wood I've been visiting every springtime for years. It's privately owned, but the landowner never minded people walking the paths. I'm a bit concerned that I might not be able to do that next year. I've heard that it's been sold and there's no knowing what the new owners attitude will be
