Reaper and Calf Fluidsynth

Post by hdr »

Hi,
opening Calf Fluidsynth in Ardour looks like this:

opening it in Reaper looks like this:

What am I doing wrong?
I mean the design is one thing, but how can I use Fluidsynth via Reaper? There is no button to choose a soundfont oder a channel.

OS: Debian 10 DAW: Ardour 6.2

Calf Plugins using Gtk for there UI, that didn't work in Reaper.
This one is known to work:

The layout is one thing, but how exactly do I use Fluidsynth inside of Reaper? There is no audio channel or sound font selection button.

Might not be exactly what you're looking for but from my personal Tips n Hints files:

You can let the Calf (LV2) plugins show up in Qjackctl as Jack-Midi devices. That is, not as Alsa-Midi. This may be handy for Reaper because that DAW does not show Calf GUI's properly (something w/ GTK2 and X11...).

Command:

Code: Select all

calfjackhost

A window will pop up. It's like a rack in which you can add Calf stuff. They will show up in Qjackctl as audio devices and a Jack-Midi IN (not Alsa-Midi) devices.

I was just dealing with this problem the other day before switching to Fluida.lv2. In the past I got Calf plugins to work with a GUI in REAPER by loading them inside Carla VST. It would sometimes crash though. Also, I never used Calf Fluidsynth with the method since Carla supports soundfonts. However I can't seem to find Carla VST anywhere and I'm not sure where I got it before, maybe I built it from source? The only thing in my repository seems to be a Flatpak that doesn't work in REAPER.
