AppImages with new base image

Post by spamatica »

Good morning MusErs, long time no hear, sorry to say...

I just wanted to mention that the AppImages are since yesterday based on Ubuntu 20.04 image instead of 18.04.
Though AppImages by themselves are distro independent, they are infact built on a base image from a standard distro.

The reason for this change is out of necessity. The build system on github completely stops supporting 18.04 as base image very soon.

So, if anyone is interested in the AppImage versions we are interested in reports on compatibility for this image.

It will come as probably no surprise that the latest master works fine on Linux Mint 20.2.

Keep up the wonderful work!

Edit: I still have lots of crashes with the master, same as I had with the previous one which contained the automation edit updates. Dragging parts or notes while playing often results in a crash. Last time I had a crash while just cutting a part in two.
But all that has nothing to do with the new base..
