Since your name is Gabriele I guess you're Italian, right? If so, you may try to look at my guide in Italian: https://stefanodroghetti.it/produzione- ... ntu-22-04/

To learn everything about using a DAW with plugins and so on on Linux, you can obviously check Unfa's channel (in English): https://www.youtube.com/@unfa00/videos

I'm a SUDO wrestler - Italy - Ubuntu 22.04 - Ardour 8.4
All my songs: www.soundcloud.com/stefano-droghetti/se ... -droghetti

Hi,

after some tries and some experiment with avlinux and ubuntu studio, i finally make the choice.
I've installed arch linux from scratch and i will try to configure it the best as i can.
I thinked, at the end, i want an updated machine, with new linux kernel and i want to choose what i install so, this will be a more time consuming task but more excting task.

I read something here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Professional_audio, here: https://github.com/chmaha/ArchProAudio anbd here: https://github.com/osam-cologne/archlinux-proaudio and opened a post on arch forum about some suggestions about the best gui environment for music but i think here, maybe is more specific.

So what did desktop environment and X server did youuse on arch to run music pro audio applications like audicity, ardour, jack or pipiwire gui, hydrogen, guitarix and so on?

Thanks so much!
I will post my future progress, i hope :)

Welcome!

1-An audio oriented distro is really unneccessary if you don't mind tweaking a bit yourself. Just use the distro you're most comfortable with. You can manually tweak your system's performance, and install alternative low latency kernels if you feel you need the improvement.
8MB of RAM? I hope you mean 8GB? 8GB is fine for most mortals.

2-Pipewire's still a work in progress. I use QJackCtl for audio and midi routing (which is actually a GUI for Jack). There are some forum members here who are perfectly happy with pipewire though. Up to you.

3-With Jack or Pipewire you don't need to fool around with virtual cables like on Windows. In QJackCtl, you can route all audio and midi between jack clients. You can route Pulseaudio to Jack clients with pulseaudio-module-jack.

ohh thank you
