And in the count's park there is a black pond... (autumn videomusic)

Post by psyocean »

Hi, LinuxMusicians!

Let's walk to autumns ancient abandoned estates sounded with authors music - two synth-improvisations.

  1. The ruins of Znamenka manor and alley of golden leaves. And other places at Petrodvotsoviy district in Saint-Petersburg.

  2. The ruins of Mihaylovka manor.

Music was recorded via digital recorder, final processing I make in Audacity. Video mountaged in Kdenlive.

There is a lot of mood in the music...are they composed/performed with the locations/images in mind? Very nostalgic.

First song: I really like the "distant" feeling of the percussion, maybe move the solosynths a bit more distant as well to integrate them more into the soundscape? Very nice sounds anyway.

Second: More integrated and dreamy. This is my favorite!

Slowing down the footage would maybe be an appropriate video effect to this music? Anyway, I like your ambition to mix audio and video.

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks to invidious I can watch youtube videos now!

Nice shots and nice tunes:

lKllC2MfQCs: I think I'd like this one more without the percussion.
JbGovkNhg1k: My favorite one too.

I feel that video and sound could be integrated a bit more, like changes of scenery accompanied by (subtle) changes in composition or something..

Interesting tracks. I found the first one didn't really match the images. It was rather oppressive, but the images looked quite peaceful. The second one was a much better fit, with the music being a more wistful style.

Hi @psyocean , I like both of those. I can't refer to the titles, since my system won't display them correctly. The quiet one has the sadness of autumn, the coming frost and loneliness. The other one almost has a menacing touch. Like something that is abandonned and you don't know what you might find there. Perhaps something that is also rundown.
In the second one the bassdrum is pumping a bit too hard, but the sound choice and arrangement is excellent for your portrait.

The drums in the first tracks are a bit unusual for your tracks but I like them, I think they are a step toward a "chill-out" sound which you could do. Even if your music is centered on improvised leads, I think a bit more quietness on them would not be out of place (my personal opinion), especially in tracks which have a beat like the first one.

Your videos always have really gorgeous places (which I assume you've walked around yourself?) and these did too!
I also liked the second song more, maybe because of a more "Badalamenti" kind of vibe, which is something I always enjoy.
