CME related question

Post by rey2007 »

Hello,I am a new member but a Linux user..
Now can one use a CME midi controller like an UF-80 v2 that integrates widi with linux ? What about the expansion slot card- CME can tun your midi controller into a synth or others into a a sound studio !
On one pc I am using Denian(lenny 5.0.4 )-not too multimedia friendly if you ask me and on the other Musix v2.0(a bit overwelming)

Note- I already have a Yamaha arrenger workstation PSR1500;I can't afford their new Tyros 3 station;Yamaha in their wisdom(!) jacked up prices of their workstation by $1,000 last year..Yamaha is NOT Linux friendly
Also the Yamaha PSR1500 is dated and you are limited...as what you can do...

March 1st 2010- To update-took the plunge bought the CME UF-80 v2;this beast(!) 88 keys can be transformed into a synth with an expansion card(a bit expansive) in one of its slot.its weight is close to 50 lbs or 23.5 kgs;I am also getting an used Roland D-5 synth.(it has a PC card slot)..which has a midi through !

I want to use Rosegarden(with Lilypond under Musix v 2.0 (a RT-real-time kernel)running on one of my pc-
Will I have any problems with the following set up-
-CME-UF-80 connected to the pc on Musix v2.0 and the Roland D-5 connected to the CME UF-80 !
Or if I get a midi to USB adapter I could connect the Roland D-5 to the pc and the CME UF80 to the Roland D5!
