Papaya

Post by jeanette_c »

Hey hey, here's my latest song, difficult to say what it is, perhaps first and foremost pop:
https://youtu.be/1R3ROM1zI_4
The song borrows from pop, Asian influences, funk, something Arabesque and a touch of tropical sound. The lyrics follow at the end of this post.
There are many sound sources involved. On the Linux side Yoshimi, LinuxSampler, Drumgizmo and, last but not least, Csound. On the hardware side the Waldorf Microwave Xt (wavetable), Behringer Neutron (analogue subtractive), RD-8 (TR-808 clone) and vocals.
I'm very happy to have discovered autotalent for me and it's working, when it has to. :) It improves the verses. :)
I hope you enjoy it, it's a very upbeat message.
Lyrics:

On a rainy day,
She ducks into a bookstore.
Out of courtesy
She buys a book on Ewe folklore.
Next thing you know
She's gonna go
And learn the lingo.
Not practical, but logical (who cares)
She's on sabbatical.
Eight years later she's mistress of the kidi
She's found her home in the band.
-
Give that girl a big banana,
'Cause she sees what's in front of her eyes.
If she sees a ripe papaya,
She'll make her catch fresh from the skies.

Tamsyn's heart is broken,
Her relationships just die.
Even sweet and lovely Daniel
Couldn't make her bounce and fly.
She still went to that club tonight
To dance the pain away.
And there she found that smile so bright,
Now Lisa's here to stay.
-
Give that girl a big banana,
'Cause she sees what's in front of her eyes.
If she sees a ripe papaya,
She'll make her catch fresh from the skies.
(the end :) )

Yes definitely some japanese YMO pop in this sound -- both in the harmonics but especially in the rhythm. Also some sounds are very YMO-ish in my ears.

Really nice and pretty (maybe too soft :) ) soft track! And your singing is improving all the time.

MusE DAW running on Debian 11 Testing/XFCE4.
