Presonus Firepod

This model is now discontinued--replaced by the FP10 with supposedly should also work with linux--but it is still pretty abundant and probably a great deal used.

I've used this interface in Ubuntu Gutsy and Hardy and haven't had to do any configuration to get sound through it other than choosing the freebob driver in JACK. I've heard of easy setups with 64studio as well.

The hardware itself has been great, more inputs and outputs than I've been able to use just yet. My only criticism is that the preamps are a bit noisy when they are cranked way up, which is often necessary, and the way the phantom power is set up can be limiting in certain situations. You can turn phantom power on or off for ins 1-4 and/or ins 5-8, so there are no individual channel toggles.

I think that the Firepod and Linux is comparable to a ProTools Digi002 setup at about a quarter of the price!
