Hah, if product has not have five good competing products doesn't make it best. It takes just one as good or better product :-)

I am ok with idea 'Kontakt is best platform form sample based instruments', it has great instruments and there is plenty of 3rd party instruments, for free, decently priced and horribly expensive ones. Kontakt is de-facto 'the sampler' of the world.

However, personally I don't need more sampled instruments, haven't even tried all presets I have in free kontakt player. And if wanting more, spitfire labs, pianobook (many platforms like sfz, kontakt, decent sampler, etc) and decent sampler site itself provide plenty of great instruments, and most of them for free. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=os6fg2t8uK4

I've not claimed Kontakt or parts of Komplete to be 'best', just that they are on sale, found to work in linux,
and that I personally like and use them. I'm not a one-size-fits-all guy, I enjoy DecentSampler, especially sounds called 'The Lamp',
'Array Mbira', and 'Winter Voices', and have posted about them in various forums.

I enjoy Reaktor and it's amazing user Library, and I enjoy Yoshimi's 16 part multitimbrality.

I enjoy Rakarrack effects, and BlueCat Axiom effects.

Each in due season, as the Muse exhales

Found a free Dulcimer set for Kontakt, over 4 gig download, the story and links at

https://www.pianobook.co.uk/packs/the-w ... _s=xxxxxxx

Many of the Pianobook samplist's stories are interesting, and some are videos.
And while pianos are there, and in the title, the community rapidly grew to include
whatever instruments and sounds someone is willing record.

Someone is selling their Komplete Select 11 for $45, normally $199

The select product when registered, qualifies for a healthy discount on
the full Komplete 13. Which includes Kontakt and Reaktor among the masses.
