AVL-MX21: Liquorix, soundcard and GPU

Hi,
I'm installing and configuring my new laptop. I use two systems in dual boot: AVL for sound, Linux Mint 20.03 for everything else.

I had trouble with Mint, since the computer is very new and the generic GPU was not recognized. I was told to try 5.13 Kernel instead of 5.4, which solved my problem. The internal soundcard was not recognized, either, and this was also fixed with newer Kernel.

Now in AVL-MX21: same issue, no graphics. Liquorix is installed (based on 5.13). I installed proprietary Nvidia drivers and XFCE launches, but I guess the generic card is still not recognized, since I can't choose "on demand" option in Nvidia-settings. And no soundcard.

I tried other Liquorix version (<5.13), but nothing works.

Any idea what to do?

I gather the nvidia driver is working since nvidia-settings launches. I can't get nvidia driver to work with liquorix 5.17.

Perhaps missing firmware in AVL. Compare your /lib/firmware in Mint with what you have in AVL.

I compared both "intel" direcories, they are different, indeed, but I don't know what is relevant:
Mint: 102 files, 3 directories
MX: 65 files, 1 directory. sof and sof-tplg are missing

I was wrong about the kernels I was using, it was 5.15, last update installed 5.16, and right now I'm trying with 5.14, with same results.

It sure looks like your onboard sound is recognized.

some help to solve that?

well, I don't really need internal sound right now. All the external soundcards I use are well recognized and fully operational!

But I really want to fix the graphical issue. I'm not even sure whether one of generic or nvidia GPU is used or not. Fan is almost constantly spinning, even with CPU at <5%.

Search the internet for some posts about "nvidia prime render offload". I don't have a laptop with dual graphics so haven't researched it much, but have seen many posts about this issue.

I know it's a pain to join another forum but for something this 'MX-Specific' I suggest joining and asking in the MX Respins forum, this isn't something I have any personal experience with or my area of expertise with AVL it's more specific to the base OS and you will get much more specialized help there:

Ok thank you I'll try there. I don't know if it's more AVL, MX or Liquorix related...
