ardour with ableton live link

Is there a howto somewhere of getting ardour 6 to work with the Live link protocol? I have the linux Carabiner ableton live link helper working and want to hook ardour6 up

It's not so much ableton link, I'm trying to get tidalcycles to sync up with the DAW, which seems to be a little difficult. sync can have some benefits, one of which is the delays can be synced to the bpm. If i can find a sequencer plugin, i can use tidalcycles to trigger midi sequences that feed into the DAW hosted synths. It'll be like an ableton live, except with tighter, tracker-like sequences.

I have been looking into this myself and it seems like it won't be possible to have Ardour work with Ableton Link because Ardour can't receive time information. See this bug report https://tracker.ardour.org/view.php?id=8095. To quote it:

It is not a performance tool (like supercollider) that receives such information, but rather a conductor that provides it. Ardour can be jack timebase-master: Convert a given timecode (min|sec) into music-time (bar beat). but not the other way around.

I do wonder/hope this is something that they will revisit now that they are starting to introduce more live performance features to Ardour (see clip launching https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EiwUN7hz6eU)
