Those are good, but I actually prefer it's cheaper cousin the 990. I think it gives a crisper sound on vocals. Although I think that one has a fuller sound.

Hi Matt thank you.
Ever heard of a 'pop screen'? Kinda like a round mesh thing? I looked at the one you mentioned before but a friend said this one would be better.

I have a Baritone type vocal so s's won't be too much of a problem but I have a tendency to boom too
Thanks Matt.

It is more versatile for certain. Anyway, yeah, pop shields are great, but they're expensive. Many people use wire hangers and women's stalking instead. I have done this in the past. I don't typically use one, the purpose is to keep breath from creating pop sound and to protect the condenser from any moisture sense moisture can ruin them.

Ok yeah that makes sense. I don't mind what it looks like so long as it works. Are they called pop shields?
Many thanks.

Pop screan, shield, filter are all the same thing. It's what you are talking about. It also helps keep loud vocalists a ways back from the mic instead of breathing their nasty breath onto the surface of the condenser and destroying it and from peaking out the entire track and making you explain why they have to re-record the whole thing because they kept shifting about in front of the microphone.

Hello chipfryer, I can recommend this one:

And pop screens don't have to be expensive: http://www.musiciansbuy.com/SAMSON_PS01_POP_FILTER.html
And I'm sure you can get them cheaper. I have one of those and it does what it has to do.
