AVL MX21: jackd: Unknown driver "firewire"

New installation of AV Linux MX-21. I installed ffado packages and ffado-mixer shows my device just fine.

Trying to launch jack with qjackctl gives the following:

Code: Select all

11:05:59.293 /usr/bin/jackd -dfirewire -r48000 -p128 -n2
Cannot connect to server socket err = No such file or directory
Cannot connect to server request channel
jack server is not running or cannot be started
JackShmReadWritePtr::~JackShmReadWritePtr - Init not done for -1, skipping unlock
JackShmReadWritePtr::~JackShmReadWritePtr - Init not done for -1, skipping unlock
11:05:59.329 JACK was started with PID=11397.
Unknown driver "firewire"
Does this mean that the jackd included by default in AV Linux is not compiled with firewire support? If so, what's the recommended course of action? Compile jackd from source?

Got it. There's a jackd2-firewire package that adds the FFADO backend to jackd. Installing it did the trick (pretty trivial, I know). Since qjackctl lists firewire by default, perhaps it's a good idea to also install jackd2-firewire by default with AVL?

Good point, I will include it in future ISO's. It's been so long since I've used Firewire that TBH I paid little attention to it on the latest release
