Bad choice of words, apologies and thank you very much.

I mixed this in Linux for the most part, the MP3 didn't come out as well as I had thought, its much too tinny sounding with high frequencies. Vocals will change it all of course.
Thanks for the reply. :D

I like it! Sometimes it sounds a bit like Jordan Rudess, especially the beginning. It has an 80's vibe, which I like.

But you are right, it sounds a little thin. I don't know if you know Jamin yet, it could help.
The more it stays the same, the less it changes

Thanks Jan.
Yeah top end is too high. I'll work on this today sometime. Thanks for you input too.
Best wishes.

If I could keep Jamin open for longer than an hour at a time I might be able to complete this wretched song
Has anyone tried Har-Bal?
It only works on windows, there are no demos.
Just wondering?

Cheers.

Never tried Har-bal. I've heard good things (but I cringe every time I see the name. Y'see, my guitarist is named... "Har"!), but I have no first hand experience with it. I haven't settled on any new mastering tools since selling my beloved PowerCore when I ditched my old PowerMac.

However, I just have to say that I really like this track. I dig good prog a lot and this is good prog. I like the heavy, almost new wave synth sounds in there... it makes for a change from the usual prog arrangements. If I were to compare it to anything, I'd probably say PFM or even a bit of IQ here and there. In any case, this is terrific stuff. The arrangement is excellent, the composition is excellent. It does everything a good prog instrumental should, but without sounding too "retro". My favorite bit is at 5:39. What a great sound! What a great shift in mood! I love it.
