recommendations for midi foot switch for live looping?

Post by bartart3d »

Hi all,
I already found some posts here about midi foot switches but most are focused on controlling effects.
I'd like to start using looping software, like sooper looper. (recommendations about other software is welcome too :-) ).
Controlling looper-software with a foot switch would obviously be great!

We're a duo, accordion and guitar, but I'd like to switch instruments too, from bass to guitar to piano, that might work in a looping situation.

I'm a complete newbe at looping, not even with a loopstation, but would love to try it on my linux-setup, so all recommendations, tips, idea's are welcome!

thnx

Since your "looper" is software running on your computer, forget about a MIDI pedal. It will cheaper, and more versatile to get a USB pedal which you can program to issue whatever key/mouse events make the software do what you want. In fact, you can get a USB "pedal board", so that you can control several looper functions. I'm referring to something like this:

If you get one of those, you'll want to use my linux "USB pedal programmer" software to program the pedal.
