Here's a simple, more line-art rendered logo. Depending upon what you're putting it over, it could be more decipherable than the bit-mapped "tux RCA victor phonograph".

You think BackupBand's user interface, which looks like it was designed by Pablo Picasso's dyslexic five-year-old kid, was the product of mere coincidence?

Is there a dark theme for BackupBand? I can help.

Oh, Audacity has a similiar logo? I don't use Audacity, so I didn't know. If so, scrap that design.

BackupBand ships with only 1 theme, entitled "Stop complaining. You got it for free, you ungrateful freeloader".

That's a pity, where are colors defined in the source? I've looked briefly in the BUTT.c file, is that one?

Actually, BackupBand is immensely configurable. You create your own "window layout" file, and specify what controls you want, where you want them, what size they should be, and what color they have. And you can add your own panels, each with its own layout.

Read "Docs/custom_window.htm"

That's better than messing with the source code, cool choice of using 16 colors. :D

P.S. BUTT is my upcoming "plugin GUI library" I'll be releasing. BUTT stands for "Basic UI ToolkiT". When it's available, you'll want to grab my BUTT. It handles all user interaction, offers controls like Push buttons, Spin buttons, Check buttons, Radio buttons, multi-column list boxes, edit (text entry), simple markup text display, message boxes, file and directory picker dialog, graphical numpad, panel bar (tab menu), multiple windows. And it doesn't use GTK or QT.

Was just playing around with an idea, maybe this can lead to something?
The "sine wave" tails aren't quite there yet and the balance is a bit off, but you get the idea.

Quite nice but at first sight I just wondered if it was Feynman or some herpetologist who where giving a tip to the waiter, so I guess this is still not a tip but a WIP ;)

Hi, playing catch up here today!

@j_e_f_f_g Those Youtube Graphics Design Masterclasses are really paying off! :D

@LAM Thanks very much for the time and effort to get things in to the SVG realm! I'm still not certain if my napkin drawing such as it is will be the best place to start from but it's great to have a good start in Inkscape, appreciate it!

@noedig Thanks for taking time to create and post the idea!

There is also some promising stuff going on via PM so as I hoped some folks here have picked up the phone to help and whichever way it ends up going to have the support, ideas, time and attention reminds me what a great forum community we have!

Thanks so far!

If later down the road, you should decide to incorporate the a 3d option... piggy backing off of LAM's latest svg offering, i whipped up a quick-n-dirty something using Blender. It's available for nada. Lemme me know and i'll put the .blend file up via Dropbox for you to do with as you please.

👍

Hi @carlv

I think I have moved away from the original thumbnail sketch but if you have the blend files it would be a useful exercise for me to get better acquainted with Blender just like LAM got me into the realm of Inkscape, Thanks!
