One weak point of Lilypond is that the midi output is not that great when it comes to dynamics. Is there software to improve the dynamics of an midi file?
I saw dp mentioning this: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=192282
Could that plugins help me a bit for example?

Re: Midi dynamics
I don't think so. What you need is a MIDI velocity randomizer/humanizer. I use the velocity randomizer function in Sequencer Plus Gold, but beware, random velocity isn't nearly so effective as going through the performance to change velocities note-by-note. A major hassle, I know, but if "life-like" is what you're after it'll cost you some effort.studio32 wrote:One weak point of Lilypond is that the midi output is not that great when it comes to dynamics. For example, the dynamics in this piece were entered note by note:
http://linux-sound.org/audio/trio4fgb.ogg
It's based on a 12-tone row, so it might sound a little weird if you're not used to that kind of thing.

What app do you use to add it note by note?StudioDave wrote: but beware, random velocity isn't nearly so effective as going through the performance to change velocities note-by-note. A major hassle, I know, but if "life-life" is what you're after it'll cost you some effort.

Re: Midi dynamics
Sequencer Plus Gold, a MIDI sequencer for MS-DOS. It's more than twenty years old and still better (for me) than anything else I've tried. When the whole UI paradigm switched to the mouse-driven GUI I gave up on Windows-based MIDI sequencers. I was amazed to learn that I could run SPG under the DOS emulator (dosemu) in Linux, and even more amazed to find that it ran much better there than in native DOS. I think that was about the time I realized that Linux was The Way for me.studio32 wrote:What app do you use to add it note by note?
I still do all my MIDI sequencing with it, still running it under DOSemu.

Re: Midi dynamics
mmh also better then oomidi?
That's not an compliment for the Linux sequencers...
Is it possible to download that sequencer somewhere?
