Hi there from Australia

Just slowly finding my way in linux audio after using mainly Ms Windows for a few years; played with Reaper, Cantabile and uncomplicated VSTs. Must say I don't mind using a command prompt here and there; reminds me of DOS script days.
Currently trying out things in linux's Jack and Carla, using web searches for guidance.
Found that I land on threads in this forum quite often, with some clever members participating. So makes sense to join up, initially probably seeking rather than giving advice, though maybe I can risk profferring an opinion or two in beginner's corner.

And hello from virus central (UK) :/
I sometimes find newcomers stumble over things that those of us doing development work completely take for granted, so feedback is quite valuable. Comment away

Thanks John (nice & short Melb lockdown this weekend) and Folderol - impresses that you compose/create original music while also being a software developer; bit like an engineer writing poetry. Heard rumours that Boris's got it all sorted for the UK by tomorrow.

Thanks. I consider myself a musician firstly, and got dragged into development when it looked as if my fave synth was going to be abandoned. I said I'd act as a maintainer until someone came along who knew what they were doing... I'm still waiting

A belated thank you for the welcome, Eli and Softman. Excuse my poor manners in not regularly checking back on my own thread; should probably change my settings somewhere so that i get emailed when posts arrive on a thread of interest.
I have been dipping into threads on this site to get myself going with Linux and am pleased to have managed to pump sound through all four channels of my Steinberg interface, using SMplayer, Jack, a Pulse-to-Jack bridge (courtesy of Ubuntu Studio) and Carla. A small advance for me since Jack kept crashing initially.
