Sorry if it's a dumb question. But why two mixers? I'm kind of lost here.

Bad jokes aside, having multiple mixers is not necessary to make music in MusE. But as a user you may get to a point where you want to have mixers with different purposes, to streamline your workflow. For instance having only midi tracks in one mixer, or one with all group tracks. It is up to the imagination what you use it for. And when you think like that, all of a sudden two mixers might be too few.

Though personally I lack that imagination so I only use one mixer

So, by the default both mixers have exactly the same tracks, right? Let's say that I don't want to do anything fancy, so I can use either A or B. It doesn't matter, right?

As I understand it both mixers are the same, but can be configured differently. One of my favourite features in MusE, makes the mixing process really uncluttered and clear, e.g. tracks go in A, busses in B
