Alision spring

Here's a new one from me. Inspired by an almost folkish melody, classical piano playing and 70s instrumental arrangements: Alision spring is as much a celebration of the above as a smile to a dear friend:
https://youtu.be/nJQKZ9nKv38
I used DrumGizmo with the Aasimonster2 kit, Fluidsynth with the naturally decaying bass sf2, LinuxSapler with the Sampletekk/PMI white grand and PMI/Sampletekk BOB Orchestral Brass. In hardware> only the Behringer Neutron, as far as I remember.
The main theme is inspired by a short melody in a demo video for an old Yamaha home keyboard with some FM synthesis capabilities, as in exposure of the underlying engine.
Enjoy, even though it might not have as much "spring" as the name suggests. :)
Best wishes, Jeanette

Thanks @LAM ! I suppose it is geared a little too much towards beauty to warrant much comment. I know the trumpets are a little too static and plastic like for the organic feel of the rest. But without a huge amount of additional work, that was the best I could do.
It was an interesting experience mixing with DrumGizmo for the first time and I can even more appreciate the difficulties one has with real drums. :) There is opportunity to shape the sound further, but there is also a lot of opportunity to mess it up further. :) So much gating, filtering and skulduggery. Thanks to the new system though, I think I'll try it again. :)

I like the arrangement as well as the melodic focus of the song. Very emotional!

Oh my, such a beautiful melody in a wonderful arrangement. This one deserves to be played by a little band on a garden party on a beautiful evening with sweet flowers in the company of nice people :-)

Many thanks @PieterPenninckx , this is very sweet of you. I'd love a garden party with or without music. Hopefully soon...

Totally love these melodies that (again) remind me on the Timm Thaler soundtrack. I wish I could play piano like you! the mix is also very balanced and transparent. This would also fit for a soundtrack of a Jodorowsky movie (I have a déjà-vue right now  )

Could you recommend a film with a nice soundtrack? I'm not very up on films, but now I am intrigued.
Many thanks for your sweet praise. <3

I found this technically interesting, but not something that works for me.

I am intrigued now: what caught your ear or mind about the technical aspects of it. Besides working with DrumGizmo for the first time, I can't see much else about the technical aspects.
Btw. I appreciate your feedback very much, especially since this isn't your cup of tea.

A true composition, definitively tells a story. Very nice piano skills.

This song has an eclectic mix of sounds. I agree that the overall effect is what you might expect in the soundtrack to a 1970's drama with garish hair and clothing. :)

I really like the piano sound, and the retro synth that plays the lead melody. I'm just not sure that I like them together. Haha!

I have never used DrumGizmo, because the AVL Drumkits LV2 satisfied my need. But I have been tempted to try it. I am intrigued by all of the mic positioning options.

I get what you mean by 70s arrangement: even before the synths arrived, it felt like how John Tout played the piano in Renaissance, one of my favourite 70s bands out there! Gorgeous piece, and very well played as usual.

Very beautiful, in my mind it is set to some old french movie from the 60s, dramatic with a load of melancholia.

Thanks for sharing!

Wonderful track, I especially like the composition. I wish I knew enough theory to modulate that smoothly, like in the intro and outro. Of course, the over-arching melody is nice as well. Really impressive work!
