Here's a couple more new tunes. The first is a first for me: a song!

And the second is a laid-back instrumental:

Re: Two More New Tunes
Sounds great man! The vocals could have used a bit more high tone. Other than this, superb. And, the vocals were superb, just a bit lost in the lows.

Thanks, Matt! As I don't do a lot of singing I was not at all confident about my vocal efforts here, so its great to get to positive and objective feedback.
Thanks also for the EQ tip, I'll do something about that.

Re: Two More New Tunes
GarryO can sing !
Good tune, good production, very nice drums & guitar parts. I agree that the vocal should be a little more forward, it does get eaten a bit by the lows in the mix.
Btw, on both pieces I'd like to hear an un-effected guitar part. Have you tried a remix with a clean guitar sound, no distortion/fuzz/overdrive at all ? You're playing so well, it would be good to hear some more tonal variety.
Check out BB King's stuff from the late 50s and early 60s, he uses a different timbre on almost every song he recorded.
Nice work, G. Gotta have cojones to sing. I do believe that even Amy Winehouse has got a pair.
More please.
Best,
dp

Cheers, Dave!
I did do a "clean" version of "Vancouver Moon" - that was the original idea - but was not at all happy with it: it sounded rather gutless. I guess I'll have to work on that.
Yet again, your advice and comments are most appreciated.

Re: Two More New Tunes
Have to say I was very impressed by Hydrogen when I tried it. Coming from a drumming background they sound a lot more like the real thing than many I've tried.

A combination of reverb, delay, and compression/sustain might be sweet, but I think you'll just have to experiment, listen, and evaluate to your own taste. And I'll gladly listen to whatever you'd like us to hear.GarryO wrote:I did do a "clean" version of "Vancouver Moon" - that was the original idea - but was not at all happy with it: it sounded rather gutless. Have you tried Rakarrack ? Might be some good presets there to tweak.
Good news for modern man.... there is more to come!
