Surround synth and fx?

What other apps and distros do you use to round out your studio?

Surround synth and fx?

Post by spm_gl »

Me again ;-)

What choices do I have for sound design and fx in surround? Do I really need to write PureData patches for everything? Does AlsaSynthModular support multichannel output? It doesn't have a multichannel panner, but I guess I could build one. Perhaps even connect a joystick. Are there any surround patches available, as a starting point?
A really good multichannel reverb would be cool too, but that is hardly available on win/mac, so I'm not holding my breath.

Looks like I'm pretty much on my own here, searching the net didn't help much. "To boldly go where no man has gone before".
I had a closer look at AMS, and since I can use the ambisonic plugins, I suppose I could do the effects in ambisonics, and then decode that to 5.1. Perhaps I'll find some time to try that out soon.
