That would be amazing, WhySynth is really powerful. I've looked briefly at the code, it's GTK, not really sure is feasible.

Yes, I hadn't thought of that. GTK doesn't seem to allow for GUI creativity, so a synth that uses GTK would be out of the game.

However, some hosts (thinking of Qtractor and Carla) also provide an alternative GUI, and I wonder if those could be adjusted to taste..?

Another great evening last Saturday, nice to see some "old" faces back from summer break! :)

Among other topics, we discussed:

- Yoshimi 2.1.0!! And, very interesting Yoshimi-Pi !!

- JJazzLab , for quick backing track production

- LARAS , a "Free Music Composition and Education Tool"

- Impro-Visor

and of course, @rghvdberg 's "The Big Rick Astley Survey" (remember to participate! :) )

Until next time...

Qtractor has already a system to change its colors, but it's somehow limited by the Qt system theme in use, so you can't style everything.

Carla has themes too, custom ones and can use the system theme (also Qt). Carla themes are defined in the Carla source code (Python and Qt, likely here: theme.py).

Last week's meeting:

-Yoshimi 2.1.0... both installation (for those like me using Debian "Buster" release) and a bit of general familiarity, such as bank and preset management. A very useful night! Thanks @folderol and @dave !

I must see if I can get the laptop working on this next time I join in. If it works I'll have audio and video complete.

Great!
Of course, it's not required by any means..

This past week saw@LAM helping me with the newest version of VCVRack!
Quite an improvement over the last time I delved into this app: lighter, quicker, slimmer.
How very chaotic, mysterious and impressive the set-ups can get!

And, thanks to a bit of encouragement by @merlyn a while back, I got an initial benchmark page together that kind of gives some idea of what a 15+ year-old 32-bit desktop running LibraZiK-2 can do! It's on my website HERE. --I'd be curious to hear what kind of results others are getting! :)

This week we were few but was really interesting:
  • I explored with @briandc the BespokeSynth 1.0.0 release, tried out some modules and effects.
  • @d.healey showed us the HISE framework and some of its capabilities.
  • Towards the end we talked about the forgotten Italian synthesizers, inspired by this video: The Forgotten Synthesizers Of Marche Region

Damn. Missed again :(
And I would have been very interested in this. Modular doesn't work for me personally (tried it several times in the past), but this is a very impressive implementation. The graphics and UI are excellent.

I think it will not end here, I believe there will be more updates on BespokeSynth. ;)

Just a quick "THANKS!" to @rghvdberg and @LAM for their help last weekend with a set-up error where removing the Carla Wine-bridge packages took with it Jack2  and kind of left my system looking a bit different too.

Another enjoyable chat session too, as usual! :)

Tomorrow I'll be checking in a bit late..probably around 10 or 10:30 GMT.

Hope you all can make it! :)
