For now the final version.
What I do like is the double rhythm in the melody.
There is an arpeggio, but the highest notes jumps a bit.
The distance to this note is bigger then the distance between the other notes.
Causing this note to stand out more. Giving it a bit of an after touch sound ? Hard to put in words.
BPM from the original drastically reduced, its now at 122.
I also think its better mixed.

Time from over 6 minutes to a tad over 4 min.
I like my almost depressing intro and then the quite cheerful arpeggio kicking in.
Also used an highpass filter to limit the high end, and panned the instruments a lot more then I used to do.

Sounds good. But the cymbal/hihat triple hit starts to annoy real quick.
Interesting gonna have a listen to that.
To me it feels I am damn close to a hit but something is killing it.
It can be the triple hi hat.
Its 1,2,3,4 were the 1 is left out.
Gonna try something more basic.
I just got feedback on discord too.
I can say, it works! And keeps playing in my head (to say so). What do you think, having some more "balls" in the mix, a little bit here 'n' there? Just my thoughts, if not ok then ignore my thoughts, it is pretty good anyway unless you still want to improve it?
I have this myself too, I did make something catchy.
But as you say its a tad too repetitive.
Maybe a good start is to leave the hi hats in the intro but then change it. Don't have them go all the way.
I also think I need to be careful though, to not change it too much.
Fun fact. When I uploaded the original, somebody said he or she loved the metallic hi hats.
I probably still remember this because it surprised me.
This person liking something about my track, I already back then was not totally happy with myself.
You commenting on the hi hats brings all this back.
Last night had a look with a spectrum analyzer.
Two synthesizers might be fighting each other, this could explain the mixing issue I have with the background chord sound and the arpeggio.
Last night also failed horrible at trying to fix the triple hit, but never give up never surrender.
Tried adding swing, but that did not sound right. Been messing with the volume of the individual notes, and this helped a bit but not enough.
"more balls" Not sure what that means, some sort of instrument? Tubular balls?
I prefer to be known as a figment of the 'nets imagination, living in the future, waiting for the rest of you to catch up.
Notes from Untalenz, an untalented old muso https://Untalenz.rocks/
Lol at tubular balls.
I am not 100% sure, but I think he means a bit more stuff happening, so more sounds / effects.
Just a little bit though. He also said I should not change the track much.
A lot of edm does this, as I like to call it, to hide how repetitive it is.
Acid house is probably the most extreme in this. There is this loop and only some filters change.
(On the Roland TB303)
The TB 303 kinda flopped, because people said it did not sound like a bass.
So it ended up in pawn shops and such, were people picked it up to make (Acid) House music.
TB303:

Although I like some house, I am not a real fan of acid house, which in general is even for me to repetitive.
Humanoid-Stakker humanoid is a great example. There is one loop with filter changes and the occasional extra sound. (often samples)
Chord progression ? there is none.
Made some progress, by putting an LFO on the triple hit snares.
Now I will look for places were I can leave them out.
Also found a few notes in the arpeggio part, which should not be there.
Tried some frequency cutting, and I think that helped too.
Also wondering about something drastic. Taking out the triple hit all together.
I did already lower the volume, and cut some pieces out.
More progress, I found a knob on the T force alpha plus, called sustain, I turned that down a bit. (bass line)
Now bass line is less muddy, and less overpowering the other sounds.
I also think I fixed the triple hit, by reducing the volume a lot.
Listening to my track as I type, and I might be finished.
Gonna listen to it on my studio monitors again, and it really seems to help with mixing that I have studio monitors and a gaming headset.
I also found a video of adam audio, were was explained that some studio monitors need an 8 hour burn in.
The S type seems to be already broken in at the factory, I do not have the s type.
That sounds like a good way to get it into trouble with your neighbors....
The guy from the vid said, you can put the monitors towards and against each other, to make it less annoying for your neighbors.
I am starting to see my struggle.
My mind is on two different tracks.
One is your typical, EDM / house track. Were filter changes and leaving stuff out at certain times makes it less repetitive.
The other track something more Jean Michel Jarre, Giorgo Moroder, with chord progression.
This might be the time to release my track, before I go insane.
Been doing a lot of fine tuning, also on making it less muddy.
Also made it at least a bit less repetitive, the intro now has a syncopated melody which later goes into a smooth melody.
First release was over 130 bpm, I am now down to 120 bpm.
Also added a bell sound and a lfo to the hi hats.
Also added a glame butterworth Lowpass to tame it a bit in the high end.
I am thinking of entering best of LMMS. (so I might have gone insane already )
Quite happy myself. From my first release were people asked if I was tone deaf to this.
Never give up never surrender.
I also think I made something catchy, I already had people say it got stuck in their minds. (but they have not heard this version)
First track I release after buying studio monitors.

I would off course like some feedback, also on the mixing.
Is it house or trance ? Lets call it edm and be done with it.
Thats how I came up with the name Duality, is it house or is it trance?
What's with the reply/repost bots on soundcloud? Is nothing real anymore? Jeez. Will listen to your track in a moment..
Good job with the triple hats! Still there, but not upfront anymore.
What is House? Let's ask:
