And have sample libraries for free too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mrZGIPxPnxw
Personally, I wasn't aware of this sampler format at all. Let's see!

Re: Decent Sampler for Linux
Reminds sfz. Hard to imagine it would have some benefit over sfz?

Re: Decent Sampler for Linux
Code: Select all
./DecentSampler: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libcurl.so.4: version `CURL_OPENSSL_3' not found (required by ./DecentSampler)The build is for 16.04. As that is EOL soon I think I'll wait and see if they release an update.

Re: Decent Sampler for Linux
The changelog of the most recent version (0.9.5) mentions a libcurl fix. Seems to work fine with my recent Debian testing.bluzee wrote: ↑Mon Mar 22, 2021 7:43 pmI assume that means one might need to down grade to libcurl3?Code: Select all

I've only experimented with this briefly, but it definitely looks promising. Even if it's not a widely supported format, there's enough cool free instruments on pianobook.co.uk to make it worth checking out (tip: filter by exs24 format when browsing Pianobook, those are the instruments that have been mostly ported to DecentSampler format—I imagine they'll eventually add a DecentSampler tag)... Some of the content on Pianobook is also available in sfz, but there appears to be more in exs24.
(Note: the plugin itself is proprietary, afaik, and wants you to make an account on decentsamples.com. Hardly a dealbreaker for me, but something to be aware of.)

Oh, that Pianobook is good finding, thanks!elcalen wrote: ↑Wed Mar 24, 2021 12:28 pm I've only experimented with this briefly, but it definitely looks promising. Re: Decent Sampler for Linux
A closed source sampler that needs curl doesn't look very inspiring confidence. I can use a web browser to download stuff. Then I know that nothing is uploaded.elcalen wrote: ↑Wed Mar 24, 2021 12:28 pmThe changelog of the most recent version (0.9.5) mentions a libcurl fix. Re: Decent Sampler for Linux
They have it designed so that you can create an account then use the app to browse their sample library and install directly. I didn't do that however I was still able to download and install a sample set and get it to play.
Designed to be a very simple and easy to use item. Pulse and ALSA support only unfortunately. Something to help keep the recent windows migrants happy I suppose.

Re: Decent Sampler for Linux
Heck, I haven't used Windows in like 15+ years and I'm still very happy to see this. A native, easy to use, Kontakt style sampled instrument plugin is something we've definitely been lacking.

Re: Decent Sampler for Linux
I stay tested plug in on mx linux 19.3 and reaper 6.2.5 native gnu linux.

Re: Decent Sampler for Linux
I've test alternately vst & vst3 : in both cases Mixbus32C-7.0.0 crash !
Note that i've test Decent Sampler v1.0.2 Linux (x86_64) also :
- vst (.so) with Ardour v5.12 : It works !
- vst3 with REAPER v6.15: It works !
(OS : Linux Mint 20.1 (Cinnamon))

Re: Decent Sampler for Linux
Most likely case is dynamic linking of plugin. You can check it with ldd.Berhu3 wrote: ↑Thu May 06, 2021 9:11 am I would like to use Decent Sampler with Mixbus DAW.

Solution is to use it with carla. Add carla plugin, and in that plugin use sampler plugin.
