I think for a first time poster it is polite to introduce himself.
I am from the beautiful city of Mainz in Germany (so please excuse any crappy english I may write), I like to make music and am obviously using Linux.
I like guitars, they just feel good and I like they sound they can make. I am a prog fan since I was a child. My father has all the good vinyl stuff since the 60s, so I naturally was a music fan since my earliest memories.
After I finally had my masters degree in political science this year some very bad things happened in my life. That brought me a little bit closer with my music and my guitars again, so I decided to make music at home, because I wanted to record and learn some of the technical stuff that involves making recordings sound good. Making music always makes me feel good. So I figured, I should play guitar more oten again.
I also test guitars for a german magazine. That requires a little bit of recording sometimes, so to have some equipment and knowledge might not hurt.
Since I knew a little about Linux and used Ardour on my iBook, I decided to buy a PC and some cheap gear to experiment a little. After trying some distributions I settled with 64Studio, because it just worked right out of the box and as much as I love tinkering around with guitars and stuff I like my equipment to just work. But it is also good to have some knowledge about how it works and how to achieve what I have in mind, I decided to register here, after reading on linuxmusicians.com for a while.
So here I am. I am certain I can learn a lot from you all and hopefully I am able to contribute a little.

Thanks for the welcome, fellow germans!
