Here is our family Christmas recording for this year: https://sanderson.band/2020/12/24/far-f ... as-plains/
It is a Christmas carol written in 1868 in St. George, Utah. My ancestors were among the original settlers of that town, and they were likely at the debut performance of this song.
Merry Christmas, everyone!

Very well done. Beautifully clear presentation.

Re: Far, Far Away on Judea's Plains
Sadly I got to this only now, but I am sure you will forgive me. I think it's a beautiful recording, I prayed for your good family while listening to it. I don't even feel about commenting the technical side of it but I find incredible what you did using pretty much my setup!

Thanks for your kind words and prayers, @Basslint. I'm really pleased with how this recording turned out, and I'm also pleased that it has a good spirit. A lot of people I shared it with said that it was inspirational, which is definitely what I was going for.
Right after I made this recording I upgraded from my student mandolin to a much nicer instrument, and also I got a condenser mic for Christmas, so my next recording will sound even better!

Very well done, milo! I enjoyed the music; both the performance and the production are excellent. I also liked your choice of instrumentation, especially the mandolin, and when the drum kicks in.

Beautifully arranged, sung and played, as usual! I'm always amazed at how your family is involved in playing music, one way or another

Re: Far, Far Away on Judea's Plains
Thanks for the kind words, @Philotomy and @Rainmak3r.
I had a hard time with getting the drum sound. I played with mic position, and eventually settled on an overhead position maybe 3 feet away from the drum head. I also found that an inverted compressor gave it a better pop. (LSP compressors are awesome!) Still not totally satisfied with the sound, but next time will be better. I really like what the drum added to the sound in the last verse, though.
