Laura

Post by jeanette_c »

Hey hey, Laura is another instrumental track, perhaps not as blatantly in need of vocals as the last one (crying shame). It's an 80s synthpop disco trackk, composed around the basslines. I had just read some course notes from a friend's composition course and one task was to write a song with an elaborated bassline.

On the Linux side I used Yoshimi for the fretless bass in the bridge, and one of the melody pads. LinuxSampler with the Salamander drum kit and a commercial piano, and loads of plugins. Not to mention Midish for sequencing and Nama for everything audio.
Share and enjoy!

I know you said you never played videogames, and yet this might be a good soundtrack for one

I find the groove absolutely great!

A bit too happy for my taste, but I often hear a subtle melancholy in your tracks that reminds me on 70s / 80s songs, for instance the soundtrack of Tim Thaler. Well done! Great mix!

Thanks for your kind feedback Lilith. And I like the theme to Tim Thaler. Do you know the title theme to Mandara, which sounds like it was composed by the same person? Lovely... The two upcoming tracks are darker and more intense. :)

Great instrumental track. Reminds me of another of your tracks, which I think was called "In the Attic" or something like that. Can't remember exactly, but I liked that one too.

Thanks Milo! Interesting association. I'm quite sure that I have my "trademarks" and repeat myself, but I wou7ldn't have thought of "The attic". :) I'll try to reconstruct your thought processes on that one. Thanks again!
