That's a possibility too. But then it takes me at least the same amount to add all the packages I need as it takes me to remove them in Ubuntu Studio. So I'll stick somewhere in between

True, true
I like Ubuntu minimal, with IceWM and a good theme. Runs on almost anything.

After trying and liking Crunchbang http://crunchbanglinux.org/ recently. I've been had a desire to try to install Ubuntu Studio on top of Crunchbang. Has anyone tried this? I would probaly wait until Crunchbang 9.10 is released, for the new kernel and hardware support.
Re: Ubuntu Studio Vs. 64 Studio
I haven't tried it but am interested - just not sure which way to go yet. After bulking up my Ubuntu 9.04 with KDE, U'Studio, a whole lot of extra software, making various minor tweaks (removing Pulse Audio, etc), then upgrading to Karmic... I'm now wondering about reinstalling with something lighter.kaimerra wrote:install Ubuntu Studio on top of Crunchbang.
Openbox seems to run on top of Gnome or KDE anyway - what about alternative desktops such as LXDE or Xfce?

Re: Ubuntu Studio Vs. 64 Studio
I once had a lovely, fast and clean Xfce running on Lenny. Until I needed to install some packages, and compile a few others. Suddenly I had half of Gnome and a big chunk of KDE. That's the main problem with distributions, all the dependencies.
