What other apps and distros do you use to round out your studio?

Recordings organisation software

Post by formigola »

Hi all!

I am a member of a band (visit www.colouredsweat.com if curious  ) and we regularly record our rehearsals to keep track of ideas, improvements, ... It's more than 10 years that we are doing this and you can imagine how difficult has became to manage all this audio files. I am wondering if out there I can find some nice linux software that can help in this task... something like a searchable database, with tags and so one. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Well there is samplecat (https://ayyi.github.io/samplecat/) but I personally couldn't get it working properly.

You could use directly a file manager - Dolphin for example has tags and you could use plain directories for macro categories.

You could set up an mpd library and use cantata as a front end. Then you can use year and custom genre tags for organising your recordings.

Puddletag is very powerful for tagging and organising files.
