Hello everyone, I am a college student studying Computer Science, and I've been a Linux user using Pop!OS since last December. I have been a musician for more than half of my life, although the vast majority of it has been classical so far. I play the cello and (some) violin/viola, and I began writing music on MuseScore, primarily for strings. I am looking to branch out and write some stuff for synthesizers as well. I am especially interested in getting into microtonal/xenharmonic music after listening to music by Elaine Walker and Sevish, and Ideally I'd like to learn how to use a variety of composition techniques. Currently I am working my way through several LMMS tutorials, and I almost have the basics down.

Well, I am looking forward to getting to know you guys and learning more about music and free software!

Welcome!

If you like microtonal music, I suggest you look into the OSC protocol and PureData (or its fork PurrData). And since you are a CS student, I would go as far as recommending Overtone :D

Welcome to this forum! I have a huge respect for string players: strings sound like magic, but mastering it requires a lot of discipline.
