A Midi Visualizer I am working on (Videos)

As a little fun project I began working on a midi visualizer three days ago.
The main purpose is to learn more about high-performance graphics programming. But I know music and midi, so I made this my first project.
"Midi Visualizer" is just a description, not a software title. If released at all it will be open source.

I'll try to use videos as my devlog. Day 3:

It is a jack midi client with 16 ports. All graphics are live, there is no loading of a midi file.

Cool! I have wanted a Linux version of the Music Animation Machine for years. http://www.musanim.com/

Any chance of getting a scrolling piano roll view?

While musicanim was and is certainly impressive there is a lot more to it than a midi visualizer. It is so good because everything is hand syncronised to an actual recording. Midi plays a role, but it is just one of many steps.

Also look at the time scale. This here is a small little project, I am not planning to invest decades of my life into it, like musicanim.

A scrolling view of already played notes is a realistic expectation. Seeing what notes will be played next, not so much.
