translate velocity to sysex

I have a Novation Launch Control XL and the colours of the leds it has can be set using sysex messages. If I send normal midi signals (use fader and route signal back to controller) the leds flicker on/off going through the colours.

What I'm after is a table that maps velocity 0-127 to values which alter the colours of the leds neatly. 0 being off, then green, yellow, orange red as the velocity values increase. I could use some math for this or a static hash table. The issue is QMidiRoute allows me to map things but only in a linear fashion. Creating 128 rules per note/cc is not a workable solution.

Does anyone know of a router/mapper that would allow me to apply a custom mapping to the velocity values? I compiled jamrouter but I don't think it does what I'm after either.
