You're getting a bit complicated now. :)

Most chords in common usage come from one of three scales :

Major
Harmonic minor
Melodic minor

A diminished seventh comes from the harmonic minor. If you were in C harmonic minor the seventh chord built on B is a diminished seventh. So B diminished can resolve to C minor.

Another way of thinking about it is a diminished is a 7b9 without a root. B diminished would then be G7b9 without a root so resolving to C minor is a V I cadence.

But any note in a diminished can be the root so G7b9 = Bdim = Ddim = Fdim = Abdim.

Yes, it's a bit complicated. I can't remember hearing a diminished in a Jarre track. So experiment and use your ears. I'm glad to hear you've made progress with your ear.

It was when I was messing around with a waltz, I noticed how much my hearing had improved.

I had put in the notes ( used a midi file, but did not copy paste, used the midi file as sheetmusic)

When I listened to it, I noticed I had made a mistake some were, but instead of checking the midi file again, I used my ears to correct a few notes.

When it sounded right, I compared mine to the midi file, and my fixes were spot on.

It was only the first few bars though.

Back to the chords, gonna try again with that diminished chord, but set LMMS to melodic minor scale. (I was using the basic minor scale)

Don't think it will end up in this track though, but I can't let this go until I found a way to resolve it. :)

It's (for now) only a triad though.
A sharp - D5- F5 to G4 - C5 - D5 and boom totally stuck

Confident changing the scale will solve it, might even turn off scale marking and see if I then can fix it.

G4 C5 and D5 sound very interesting though.

So that looks like the key of Bb. Bb D F is a Bb major triad. G C D is Gsus4, not a diminished.

You could go
Bb -- Bb D F
Gsus4 -- G C D
Gm -- G Bb D
Dm -- F A D

Thank you, so its a sus not a dimished. :)
Maybe one day I will remember those names.

Right now a bit stuck. Starting to understand better how what I am doing is not really jarre like.
The song structures being the biggest issue.
I even have a bit of verse chorus structure.

The main problem though, how much do I care, because I like what I already have.

Been shortening some loops a bit. And by kind of accident found out jarre strings zadsfx are very well suited to do moby - go, or should I say laura's theme?

I have no idea how close I am note wise, but I suddenly had this part very much like laura's theme, which was replayed by moby, for his track GO.

For those who have no idea, want I am on about note wise:
The first part, the part moby used.
