Hi all,
I made this song as a kind of "proof of concept" for myself, a heavily sequenced song, with a bunch of synth plugins and two voice tracks.
https://youtu.be/AGlaXP3ey40
MusE performed beautifully!!! The song is a bit simple, but I am so amazed that I am able to produce these kinds of sounds using 100% open source.
I reached 38% CPU and 30% DSP utilization (what's the difference?) with 10 MIDI/softsynth tracks and 4 audio tracks (2 for the voice, 2 for cutups). I ran it all on a Core i5 laptop I found in my recycling room.
I wish all MusE developers and users a happy holiday! Thank you all!

Re: New song made with MusE
This is awesome!
Nothing like a bit of Synth Rammstein to bring out the Christmas spirit
Seriously though, this was great!
Regarding the DSP, I might be mistaken but I think it is a value Jack gives us and supposedly represents the percent of time that is spent generating audio. The CPU is something we calculate ourselves, which includes everything MusE does, apart from DSP this is mostly GUI updates.
Merry Christmas Staffan!

That is also great to hear.oscillator wrote:Hi all,

Wow, amazing what people throw away.oscillator wrote: I reached 38% CPU and 30% DSP utilization (what's the difference?) with 10 MIDI/softsynth tracks and 4 audio tracks (2 for the voice, 2 for cutups). I ran it all on a Core i5 laptop I found in my recycling room.

Re: New song made with MusE
Thank you Spamatica! Learning new stuff is a lot of fun!
I ran it all on the pre4 version, and I maxed out on the FX on the audio tracks (EQ, DIST, DELAY, REVERB) so Tim's 8 FX bleeding edge upgrade will be welcome (EQ, DIST, CHORUS, DELAY, REVERB)! Looking forward to try it out!
Och god jul på dig! Tack för allt arbete med MusE!

Pretty good. There a some things that could be improved in the mix. For my taste it could be much more in your face. You have a lot of panning and effects going on, but I would place much more stuff in the center and make the track much dryer. What doesn't fit is the sound that comes in @ 0:24. It sound like it is not part of the song. Later in the song it sound better. How did you process the vocals?

I can see what you mean, I think I just like the delays for making the mix fuller. I also like to double the track, and pan two different patches/synths playing the same arp.lilith wrote:Pretty good. Very observant! It was the last track I added. Yeah, I think it is not that well integrated. Still, I like contrast.lilith wrote: What doesn't fit is the sound that comes in @ 0:24. It sound like it is not part of the song. Later in the song it sound better.
Eq: lessen the bass, add treble. After some searching, I found a dist that was ok. Next delay (Calf Vintage Delay) and some reverb (Calf Reverb).lilith wrote:How did you process the vocals?
