I just discovered this forum while looking for something else.
To date, I have been using Finale.
I am an accomplished programmer in C, but signals processing (e.g. writing a patch for Audacity) is foreign to me.

What kind of bagpipes are you playing? There are over 120 different kinds of bagpipes in Europe.
Have you tried lilypond or Musescore for your scores? As far as I remember, lilypond even has a bagpipe notation.
