AV Linux 2019.4.10 Released!

Postby GMaq » Wed Apr 03, 2019 3:55 am

Hi LM Friends!

AV Linux 2019.4.10 has been released (8 days early!) ;)

Image

This release is basically an update of the ISO that fixes a couple of annoying bugs from the 2018.6.25 release with some notable updates and additions. It will mark the last release based on Debian Stretch and sadly it will also be the last release of the 32bit version. Future AVL development will focus on Debian 'Buster' and 64bit only. In the meantime I think this 2019.4.10 version will provide a fast, stable well prepared platform for AV Content creation for quite some time.

CHANGELOG:

Refreshed expired Repository Keys for WineHQ and Spotify.
Updated and Fixed Repositories for New Cinelerra-GG site.
Updated and Synced all Debian and 3rd Party Repos (including KXStudio).
Fixed VBox Guest Additions removal script to allow /etc/rc.local to remain executable and enable Automount of external drives.
Fixed missing 'linvstconverttree' in LinVST.
Removed some obsoleted udev rules.
Installed and configured new Numix Circle Theme with AVL Customizations.
Updated Mixbus Demo to 5.2.191.
Updated LSP Plugins to 1.1.9.
Updated LinVST to 2.4.3 (now provided and working on 32bit and 64bit ISOs).
Removed redundant 'ArdourVST' build on 32bit ISO.
Updated Dragonfly Reverb Plugins to 1.1.2.
Added KPP-Plugins 1.0+GIT
Added AViDemux (very handy Video tool)

Hi Glenn!

Please take attention to this topic: https://github.com/sadko4u/lsp-plugins/issues/47
According to report, it seems that something is wrong with LADSPA build of LSP Plugins for AV Linux.

Best,
Vladimir

Hi Vladimir,

I've posted a comment on GitHub also.

I have never packaged the LADSPA plugins (only LV2 and LXVST binaries from your project page). Recently my LSP packages were replaced by the KXStudio ones (AV Linux uses the KXStudio Repos). My guess is the KXStudio 'lsp-plugins' packages also contain the LADSPA plugins and the issue is from the package upgrade to 1.1.9.

Thank you very much indeed :) .

Just a question: Is it possible to do an upgrade from AVL2018 to 2019 ? (For example by modifying the sources ? )
Or will I have to do a new install ? (I use to have a separate partition for /home.)

Hi,

Actually with AVL the focus is on the ISO images and it doesn't have it's own repos (other than for the RT Kernels). However the changelog is pretty small so very soon I will post a few notes with links regarding the upgraded specific features and custom packages that went into the 2019 release. In truth 99% of the application upgrades will come through the Debian and KXStudio repos. If you haven't seen this post it addresses a couple of the fixes put into AVL 2019.4.10:

http://bandshed.net/forum/index.php?topic=4251.0

I will work on getting organized and uploading some of the other updated packages outside of Debian/KX this weekend.

FYI, there is no need to patch the -rt kernel for nvidia anymore. Just the nvidia driver so that it can build the kernel modules :) I've ran nvidia with unpatched rt kernel for a few months now, with no sign of the original issue (desktop hanging).

FOA, thank You for your work!

I would like to ask if there is an online package repository available for downloads. I accidentally disinstalled a package (linvst 2.4.2) to try a newer version (ver. 2.8 from github - osxmidi). But now I cannot revert back to the original package. I found an older version (1.7.6) at www.bandshed.net>packages>linvst, but cannot find the original version 2.4.2.

thanks and kind regards

I will try and post the updated package to the packages archive tonight

Thanks,
if possible you could make a minor update to the package and move template file linvst.so out of the /usr/local/lib/vst folder. When the host program (Carla in my case) scan that directory a warning message appears complaining about a missing linvst.dll because it believes it to be a "linvst-ed" plugin itself :-). The original package linvst.so file's position is /usr/share/LinVst.
kind regards,
maks

Hi,

Maybe this is no longer the case but I was under the impression that the 'linvst.so' template file was required to be in the same directory as the WinVST's, if not I will move it in future packaging. Thanks
