Totalchaos - The Butterfly Effect 2017

Post by thetotalchaos »

Hello community,

The Butterfly Effect is my first music album since 2011. I spent too much time on distrohopping and concentrating on technical skills, so i put my artistic expression on halt.
https://www.linuxmusicians.com/viewtopi ... =4&t=17516.

This album is the product of my first collaboration with other Linux artists. Since 2016 Totalchaos is a four member band. We are Biser Angelov(me), Danilo Sequeira (Strato-Steak; Majorana), Iliya Vasillev and Mauricio Camara.

The Butterfly Effect is inspired and dedicated to an amazing woman, a Muse. Her artistic pseudonym is Toxia. She has the most beautiful voice, and musical and poetic talent, so i plan and hope our next project to include her as well.

The Butterfly Effect was finished in may 2016 and released in one physical copy, as a personal present to Toxia.
In the current version in SoundCloud though, there are some recent changes, including two extra tracks.

The original 9 track version can be heard on YouTube

The Butterfly Effect sessions were made on Parabola GNU/Linux-libre, tweaked using my Parabola ProAudio packages.

The songs in the album are licensed with Creative Commons Attribution. The music genre i choose to describe the songs is called Liberty Music. In means that the product is not for commercial use and the artist prefers his music to not be classified by genre.

You should check my YouTube video regarding my Parabola ProAudio project as well.

I would love to read your impressions. Please share how The Butterfly Effect touched you? Do you have a favourite song(s)? What are your thoughts and feelings?

Best Regards,
Totalchaos {Biser Danilo Iliya Mauricio}

Hi,

So far I like the more atmospheric, open-ended pieces, such as "Surrealistic Landscape", "Netrunners". When it becomes busy elsewhere there's a hint of Front 242 in the way it's driven. Industrial. For the style it's pretty good. Dark cinematic. What was used to generate sounds ? How did you work with the other people on the project ?

Cheers.

Thank you very much for letting my music touch you. I am also glad that you like those pieces in particular, because i conceder, as you said: "atmospheric, open-ended pieces", to be my speciality. As for the industrial bits... they are actually influenced by another industrial band - Laibach. In fact the tracks "Death for Death" and "Raus" are my interpretations of Laibach songs. And the coolest part is that i received a personal endorsement by Laibach themselves. As for what i used to generate the sounds, i am using 'Evoluton MK-449c MIDI Keyboard', with many manually or autonatically assigned knobs and sliders. So basically i am the keyboard guy and project's producer. As for the other members of this project, Danilo is on the guitars, Iliya is the beat-maker, and Mauricio is playing flute and cello.

As for how we managed to work together? We communicated through facebook and exchanged files by sharing a common folder in google drive. In fact Iliya is the only Totalchaos member with whom we worked in person, sharing the same studio environment. Meanwhile Danilo and Mauricio are living literally at the other side of the Earth, but that's not stopping us, to become a close friends.

Anyway thanks again for the interest. Allow me to share a YouTube video showing Rosegarden, while playing our track "The owls are not what they seem", a piece inspired by Twin Peaks and the art of David Lynch.

Thanks for the details. Incidently I recently posted a Laibach piece here in the 'General Music Discussion' section in the 'North Korea' thread. Which synths are you driving with the M-Audio keyboard ? I'm using u-he synths mostly, with a fond thought about Biotek and Discovery Pro. Here are some chosen pieces I made:

tlucco
infralogos
collage-1
Sanstitre
Cauchemar

Cheers.
