I was testing out RG2 just last night. Very nice sound! (Actually, I tested an earlier release too, also worked fine.) It has quite good midi communication (I was able to control it with Patchage fine; not all synths do). The sound is quite rich.
There are some limitations: it doesn't have mono/portamento/legato capability, and the waveform window only shows the left signal (if the right signal is what you want to modify, maybe it could be done by importing into Audacity and switching channels..?).
It's always darn hard to get samples to loop without having some beating going on. And it would be great to have samples maintain their length throughout the keyboard. But it's definitely a good addition, imo.
